Customer Service During the Sales Process
Independent Life will be a market leader when providing medical underwriting for a catastrophically injured plaintiff. For selected cases presenting a clearly material, life-shortening condition and with atleast $1,000,000 of premium, we will invest in a deep-dive underwriting of the person’s condition and how those injuries impact their life expectancy. By doing the extra work, Independent Life seeks to provide more favorable pricing than other carriers.
How The Process Works
When Independent Life receives a request for a rated age, one to three hours after an initial phone consultation with the submitting broker our internal underwriter will review the file and provide a rated age. Should the case be deemed a candidate for a more in-depth evaluation, Independent Life will, at substantial expense, have Fasano Associates, a leading underwriting firm in the life, annuity, and life settlement markets, evaluate the risk with their multi-physician process led by Medical Director Dr. David Vaughan producing a comprehensive evaluation of the injury victim’s life expectancy.
Fasano Associates has tuned their methods to the realities of each market they serve and have recently reported Actual to Expected ratios of 98% for structured settlements, far superior to other third-party underwriters. This extensive process could take up to two weeks, so it may not be a suitable option for each case.

Independent Life will bring the structured settlement quoting process into the modern era with our innovative platform of technology. We will provide structured settlement professionals with a desktop quoting application.....but we will also integrate the following developments into our technology platform:
- "Snap-A-Quote" – Brokers can send us a "Snap" of a quote via SnapChat and we will "Snap" you back through the app
- "Text-A-Quote" – Text us a picture of a quote and we will text you back with a quote
- Web-based Quoting – Quote through our website with any browser, from any computer
- Mobile App

At the core of Independent Life’s quoting platform is Independent Quote Systems (IQS). This will be our flagship quoting tool designed to be easy-to-use and offer attractive, yet simple reports for the injury victim to review.
Independent Life recognizes that cases are won and lost in the trenches and that daily rates dominate. Independent Life strives to have pricing requests approved in less than one hour from the submission time. We will also offer extended response times so that our West Coast brokers do not have to wait until the next business day when they need help immediately. Our staff’s goal each and every day is to provide delightful, helpful and prompt customer service. Commissions will be distributed within one business day of receipt of premium and application. Our goal is to have a policy issued within one week of receiving all requirements.
